overview of course content and assignments
I. Class participation.
a. Presentations to class. In a typical week you will be asked to make one brief presentation to the class. For example, you may be assigned portions of the required readings, or outside reading, and be responsible for presenting that material to the class. Your presentation should (a) clearly explain key terms and concepts, (b) offer a concise summary of the most important takeaways and (c) emphasize real world applications. We will discuss assignments on a weekly basis.
b. Class preparation notes. You will also be asked to prepare a brief write-up each week on required readings. One to two typed pages should be sufficient.
Please include the following:
i. What are the most important things you learned from the readings?
ii. How are the readings applicable to your current life (job, school, clubs, friends, etc)?
iii. How are the readings applicable to your desired career path?
iv. What questions do you have after completing the readings?
v. Please also find one recent business press article (Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Harvard Business Review) related to the assigned readings for that week. Attach a copy of the article to your write-up and briefly summarize the article in your write-up.
II. Team Project. You will work in teams of 3-4 to prepare and deliver a short presentation and a longer experiential activity to the class. Additional details will be discussed in class.
III.
Exams. The midterm and
final examinations may include multiple choice, short answer and essay
questions based on the required readings and class material. The final
examination will be cumulative. We will discuss the format prior to each exam.
