Winter 2006 Course Materials will be posted in this website before the end of the first week of Winter term.

Venture Management is a senior level course designed for students in the College of Business and the Entrepreneurship Minor Program.  It will prepare the student for leadership roles in the new venture innovation process driving new venture start-ups and new ventures within existing organizations.  The purpose of the course is to review dimensions and conceptual underpinnings of the innovation system, study concepts and principles for managing this system, and practice application to actual venture management. 

 

Topics include scientific research, technology development, product development, intellectual property development, management of scientists and engineers, actual commercialization of new products and services, and business assessment based on the triple-bottom-line.  The course includes selected readings, cases, guest speakers, and analyses of emerging technologies.  All assignments are designed to develop management skills required for the graduate to contribute to real ventures in real organizations.

 

Prerequisites: Senior standing in the College of Business or the Entrepreneurship Minor Program, BA 340 or 360, BA 350, and BA 390.
