System Definition

A system is assumed to be

any object of thinking
that is delimitable
the delimited parts form the environment
the system has properties refering to the environment
the system has a functionality
it can consist of sub-systems
they interact by means of relations

A system definition can be derived from these assumptions:

A system consists of elements.
The elements have attributes (properties and functions).
Elements interact by means of relations.
An element may be a system.
