At OSU COB I teach:
- BA272:
Business Applications Development.
- BA272
is an introduction to the
Microsoft
Visual Basic .NET®
programming language.
- It is described this
way:
BA272
provides students with foundational skills in the disciplined
development of business application software. These skills are a
prerequisite for success in course BA371. They are also required for
professional success in business application system analysis, design,
and project management. The software development environment used in
BA272 is Microsoft Visual
Studio .NET® and the Visual
Basic .NET®
programming language, an exceptionally productive and effective
development platform which is widely employed in enterprise computing.
I've been a full-time
member of the Computer Systems
Department
faculty at Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC) since Fall 2000. You
can access my LBCC homepage at:
http://cf.linnbenton.edu/bcs/cs/swansop
- At LBCC I'm the
teacher of Visual Basic
.NET®:
- LBCC's course CS133V
is equivalent to ("articulated
with") OSU BA272.
- In 2006, CS133V is
offered Spring and Fall terms, at
the main LBCC campus in Albany:
- Spring 2006: TR
0930-1150
- Fall 2006: TR

- I teach courses in
LBCC's program in

Systems Administration:

(summer) in LBCC's
Engineering
Transfer Department:
- Summer 2006:

Before joining the LBCC
faculty, I worked for 19 years as an
electronics and software engineer at Hewlett-Packard,
in Colorado, Washington State, and Corvallis (then I accepted an
Early-Retirement offer). I worked mostly in the design and
hardware/software integration of test systems. Visual
Basic®
was a principal programming
language used in this work.
For several years I
taught community-college courses in
philosophy
(especially logic and ethics), humanities, and world religions.
I served for 2 1/2 years
with the US Peace Corps as a
high-school
teacher in Malawi, Africa. I taught biology, English, history, and
mathematics.
I've received the
following degrees, in reverse chronological
order:
- MSEE from California
State University, Sacramento
- Project area:
Digital Signal Processing
- MA in Philosophy from
University of California, Davis

ecology on ethics.
