How To Determine your College of Business Netcode (Username) and Password.

  • Determine your User Name (also known as your Netcode). An account has already been set up for you.  To access that account, you need determine the user name that has been assigned to your account. Your Netcode or User Name is derived from your last name, your first and middle initials, your day of birth and a manipulation of your OSU ID number.  The example provided derives the netcode for someone named James Robert Simon Coakley with a day of birth of November 14 and ID# of 999 333 054.  That netcode is COAJR149.
    1. Take the first three letters of your last name (James Robert Simon COAkley).  COA
    2. Use the initials for your first and middle names.  If you have multiple middle names, use only the first middle name (James Robert Simon) COAJR
    3. Use the numbers from your day of birth (November 14).  If your birth date is only one digit, use just that digit)  COAJR14
      • Example:  November 14  use 14   COAJR14
      • Example:  June 6 use 06  COAJR06
    4. Add together the LAST THREE numbers in your OSU ID  number and use the right-most digit from that sum.
      • Example:  999-333-4054  sum 0 + 5 + 4 = 9 use 9   COAJR149
      • Example:  999-333-4154  sum 1 + 5 + 4 = 10  use 0   COAJR140
  • Determine your Password.  Your password is the same password you use when you log on to the OSU systems to register for classes.  This is normally your Social Security Number.  If you can't remember your password, go to room 205 or 204c and ask for assistance--they can reset your password back to your SSN.
  • IMPORTANT:  DO NOT GIVE ANY OTHER PERSON YOUR NETCODE OR PASSWORD and DO NOT WRITE YOUR PASSWORD DOWN.  People with that information have full access to your university records, your mail, all of your files, etc.  You are personally responsible for your own information security and safety and should guard your Netcode and Password as restricted personal information.
