System Definition

A system is assumed to be

• any object of thinking
• that is delimitable
• the delimited parts form the environment
• the system has properties refering to the environment
• the system has a functionality
• it can consist of sub-systems
• they interact by means of relations

A system definition can be derived from these assumptions:

1. A system consists of elements.
2. The elements have attributes (properties and functions).
3. Elements interact by means of relations.
4. An element may be a system.
