Each student must submit a 2-page Case Brief for each of the 7 cases to be
discussed in class and as part of a Group, one 8-page Group Case Report on the
Case 33, the Monsanto Case in the required text for this course. The Case Brief for Whole Foods is required. This will be subject to a “peer review and
resubmit” process described in the Report Instructions file which can be found
in the BA 469 page of the COB website (click on Academic Requirements, then go
to Course Materials.) The Report
Instructions file explains the requirements for Case Briefs and Group Case
Reports.
Briefs and Reports are due at the beginning of class the
cases are scheduled for discussion. (Please refer to the Class Schedule.) A Case Brief will earn full credit if it
meets the requirements as described in the Report Instructions file and is
submitted on time. Case Briefs may
not be submitted after a case is discussed.
Except for the required Case brief (Whole Foods), the lowest
Case Brief grade will be dropped when final grades are computed.
Students will form groups of up to 4 members for the purpose
of the Group Case report on Monsanto.
Group assignments will be discussed a couple of weeks before the report
is due.
Participation. Participation will be based on attendance and
contribution to class discussions.
Attendance may be monitored through in-class
writing.
QUIZZES. The 3 Quizzes during the term will contain a
mix of multiple choice and short essay questions. Quizzes will include additional materials
covered in class, i.e. lectures, in class exercises, and case discussions.
All quizzes will be administered
through Blackboard. Unless you have an
acceptable reason and give advance notice, there will be no make-up quizzes.
1. Students with disabilities: Accommodations are
collaborative efforts between students, faculty, and Services for Students with
Disabilities. Students with
accommodations approved through SSD are responsible for contacting the faculty
member in charge of the course prior to, or during, the first week of the term
to discuss accommodations. Students who
believe they are eligible for accommodations but who have not yet obtained
approval through SSD should contact SSD immediately at 737 4098.
2. Academic dishonesty: Any case of academic dishonesty will result
in a grade of F for the course. This
action is allowed by OSU's
Academic Regulations and Procedures.
Students are expected to know and understand these policies and
regulations.
3. Students are expected to respect the educational process
during class and in general, to avoid disruptive behavior. To guide students, “house rules” will be
announced during the first week of classes.
These “house rules” make reference to the University definition of disruptive behavior which
students are advised to read.

Note:
1. A
student’s grade for the Group Case Report assumes that he or she contributed to
the Group’s work. Each Group will be
given the opportunity to discuss what criteria will be used and how each
member’s contribution will be evaluated.
This evaluation may be used in assigning a student’s final grade.
2. To
compute the final grade for Case Briefs, the sum of the points for best 6 Case
Brief grade will be divided by 18 (the total possible grade for 6 Case
Briefs.) The Group Case Report will be
graded on a 10-point scale.
