Schedule & Assignments

Communication with students:

I don not use “Blackboard”.  All communication with students will either be “ORAL” or through the use of C.O.B. E-mail.  Each student is responsible for assuring that their C.O.B. E-Mail account is in order.  This account has been established when you registered for this class.  If you are not familiar with the use of this account, please visit the “Computer Lab” on the first floor of Bexell.  This account can be adjusted, by you, to automatically forward all messages to your normal E-Mail account; however, that is your responsibility.  Do to F.E.R.P.A. regulations; you must discuss your grades, in person, with me.  I will not respond to those questions on the telephone or via E-Mail,

Examinations:

There will be two examinations, a midterms and a final.  See the assignment schedule for class dates.  No make-up mid-term exams will be given after the exam date.  If you are involved in campus activities that will prevent you from taking the exam at the scheduled time, you must make arrangements to take the exam early.

Note Card: No note cards will be allowed for the Midterms or Final Exam.

Homework:

Homework will be discussed in class. All homework will be computer generated using either “Word” or “Excel”.   No handwritten homework will be accepted.  Feel free to use a red pen to correct and make notes on your homework.  The homework will be collected and returned to you.  It will be graded on correctness, completeness. To be complete you must have shown all calculations, if necessary, or provided you written answer in a clear professional manner.  (A “Yes” or “No” answer is not complete – tell me why you answered as you did.  It is also necessary that you complete the correct problem.  If you are not in class, for any reason, the homework will be counted if received by the scheduled end of class. If you are in class, homework may not be turned in late.

Grading of homework:   Homework assignment will be collected during the class, for which it was assigned.  When the homework assignment is returned, to you, the grade will be reflected as a “fraction”. The “bottom number” (denominator) will reflect the possible grade for the homework, the “top number” (numerator) will reflect the grade you received. At the end of the quarter, I will compute a “percentage” based on each individuals “fraction”, this percentage will be applied to the homework points to determine your individual “homework grade”.

Tutoring is available, free of charge, by Beta Alpha Psi.  Time and location will be announced.  They will have solutions to the homework problems.

Cheating:

Copying another student’s work is considered cheating.  This is true whether it is homework, a project, a quiz or an exam. If you are caught cheating you are subject to receiving an “F” for the course.  DO NOT CHEAT.  Also, please refer to Rule 15 in the Schedule of classes for guidelines regarding acadamic dishonesty.

Grades:

If you find an error in scoring a test or project, you will have one week from the date the item was returned, in class, to have the grade adjusted.  No adjustments will be made after this date.

Office Hours:

I will be more than willing to assist you during the course in understanding the course material.  It will be to your advantage to seek assistance as soon as you feel you need the help.  This class moves very quickly, and the material builds upon the prior information. Your understanding, of each issue, is critical to the successful completion of this course. Please take advantage of my time and knowledge.  If you are unable to attend the “Office Hours” as listed on the syllabus, contact me via E-Mail and I will attempt to meet with you at a time convenient to both of us.
