Used Book Information --> return to BA396 - Home

The authors of the book recently came out with a new edition of the textbook. Unfortunately, the cost of this book (IMHO) is outrageous. This is a good book and we will use the same text for 396 and 496, but there are more important things for you to spend money on than a new book.
The bottom line is that the bookstore has informed me they cannot get enough used copies – my choices are 1) for you to buy a new book at $110+ with very few used copies available, or 2) to ask you to find a book on your own for a cost of $30-$70. I have opted for the second option as the cost difference is so big, you should get a fair return on investment for your time.
The textbook is the 8th edition of Marketing Research: Methodological Foundations by Churchill and Iacobucci, published by Harcourt with a 2002 copyright date. The easiest way to search for this text is with the ISBN which is 0030331013 (you do not need the SPSS cd that may have been bundled with the book).

The Bookstore may have some used copies - it was unclear how many copies they could put on the shelf.

There is an on-campus source of books - the Marketing Club is working to connect seniors who have finished with the book with students enrolling in BA396. If you want to buy a book on campus, send them an e-mail (club_marketing@bus.oregonstate.edu). If you want to go online to buy a book, check the notes below.

If you have any questions, please e-mail Dr. K.

A quick Google search for “used books” revealed quite a few places (although not all have textbooks). Some of the sites and comments are included below (in somewhat random order) to help your search. Please remember to check for a BizRate rating or other indicators that the seller is reputable and that will get you the book in a reasonable period of time for the price listed on the website. It might not be a bad idea to call them and make sure that it really is “in stock.”

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: Dr. K gets no “kickback” from recommending these sites and has no financial interest in any of these sites or the sale of used textbooks from any source. These links were tested and all worked 10 Mar 2005.

Amazon acts as a broker – if you browse the used books, you will find listings by abebooks (below) and others – I don’t know if there is an advantage to go through Amazon
www.half.com have some copies
www.abebooks.com from the home page, click on “advanced search” then on the next page enter or copy/paste the ISBN to find the book
www.powells.com had one used copy (price seemed reasonable) and one new copy ($100+ for an out of date edition…what are they thinking!)
www.alibris.com had a few copies, some in the UK (not a good idea to have to wait for it to cross the “pond”), they also look like they act as a broker, some copies were listed at the BookByte in OR(?)
www.bookbyte.com did a search and found BookByte – they are located in Salem, they have a few copies and they do have a store front (scroll down on this page http://www.bookbyte.com/ContactUs.aspx for the map!)
www.allbookstores.com does a search of multiple vendors and includes the approx. cost of shipping
www.campusi.com site searches multiple vendors (some listed above)
www.cheapestbookprice.com does a search of multiple vendors but only showed a couple for this book and ½ of them were high priced – but you may be able to find coupon or discount codes at this site for other online vendors

Not the best:
www.ecampus.com these folks also had a copy with a price over $100 - for an out-of-date edition???
www.BarnesandNoble.com could not find a place to put in the ISBN – they have copies but you have to sort through the list to figure out which is the 8th edition – not user friendly
