NEWS YOU CAN USE (with any luck!)

ÚThe Portland Advertising Federation is presenting Career Jam 2005 on April 29th (this brochure is 800KB, so if you connect with a dial-up, it may be slow to load). The Career Jam is a great opportunity to learn who's who in the Portland market and begin your professional networking. Another advertising group in Portland is Ad2. Ad2's focus is young professionals under the age of 33 - check them out as well.

The Career Jam 2005 is now past, but check the AdFed and Ad2 websites if you want more information about advertising/PR careers in the Portland area.

ÚDo you have a Summary of Qualifications section on your resume? Robin Ryan is a Career Coach and here is an example that she provided in the article published on MSN/CareerBuilder.com:

"Here is a good example from one of my client's résumés:

Summary of Qualifications
Twelve years' management experience in human resources dealing with fast-paced, rapidly expanding companies. Expertise includes employment law, recruiting, employee and labor relations and compensation. Analytical decision maker with excellent problem-solving skills. Recognized for ability to develop employees' professional growth and increase their productivity.
